"The Easter Egg Tree"

After a long period of not doing any painting, I decided to jump back into painting to finally finish an idea I had about a year ago. LOL I just listed "The Easter Egg Tree" on Ebay. It was alot of fun to create and I love how painting always brings me to another place. I had forgotten how relaxing painting is for me! Of course, it's not easy to do with a 4 yr old running around so I was able to paint this piece while my son was at his school for the day. :)

"Catfish"

Sometimes I run into really cool fabrics that I just feel the need to buy without a "plan". Alot of my designs started just that way. Either a fabric or even a song will get my mind thinking of what it reminds me of and what to create out of it. This catfish was thought up after I purchased this awesome square of cat themed fabric. To me, making a flat catfish with it seemed to fit the mold. :) He's definitely one funky lookin' fishy! LOL He was also just listed over on Ebay.

Well, looks like I'll be taking a long three day weekend from sewing and painting in order to hang out with my sons. It's their winter break week and we're due for a day or two out and about as cabin fever is taking hold. :) Have a great weekend!

Whew! Spent a long day finishing up several critters and getting them listed on Ebay. It's always so nice to wrap up a few of the projects that have been "in the works" for a while. As soon as I finished these, though, my mind started swimmin' with new critters to design so it all starts again soon. LOL

A great friend of mine and a fellow primitive artist, Joyce, stated (jokingly) that I should create a tick doll so that our recent problems with ticks (yup, believe it or not during the WINTER!) would maybe go away. :) Well, I decided "what the heck, I'll do one" and he's now over on Ebay. :) Definitely something different in the prim world to say the least. LOL

To me, nothin' says St Patrick's Day like a happy Irish Froggy! LOL

Frederick McFroggy has just been listed over on Ebay. I always enjoy creating different versions of my frogs, although this sucker proved to be quite a stubborn critter along the way. :)

Now that he's listed.....I'm continuing to work on more St Patty's day critters and should have more up and running on Ebay by the week's end.

Snow has arrived!

We got our 1st "real" snowfall last weekend and it sure puts one in the holiday spirit!

I have a few Santa "critters" that I've finished and listed on ebay........hopefully I can finish up a few more Christmas items I'm working on and get them listed by the end of this week! Time is flying by this season and before you know it, Christmas will be upon us!!!!

Frankenfrog's Back at OCSC!!!

Fall is definately here in New England and as the leaves are turning and falling, the creepy prim critters are in full swing here at Olde Crow Seed Co!!After a L O N G, injury filled week, I finally got this creepy critter finished and listed over on Ebay. There are several other Halloween critters that I hope to complete and list on both Ebay and my new Lemon Poppy Seeds Shoppe within the next few days.

New Halloween Critters!!

Just finished and listed several new Halloween/fall critters over on Ebay. Halloween and Fall is one of my favorite seasons to create for as it's so much fun to think of creepy and weird things to do to my exsisting stable of creatures. :O) Of course, leading the way...front and center is my Halloween version of my Original Primitive Clam.....Count Clamula. :-P Actually, he's a little scary in "real life", LOL, as he's sitting here on my mantel and all I can see in the early morning shadows is his red eyes peeking out from behind his black and red shell. How a clam could be scary??? Who knows, but he can be at times. :O)

This pumpkin head make do/nodder always cracks me up when I look at him. He's one whimsical, silly creation. :)

My elephant witch is back for this Halloween season. This year her new addition is her pumpkin bucket she's holding. I added a flicker bulb inside which makes it look really cool at night!

My primitive Owl was new this summer and I loved how she turned out so much that I made another version of her as a Halloween witch, complete with a set of wooden witches' books. :)

All these critters, and some others, are now over on ebay ready to be adopted!

Now off to play outside with my boys!!!

New Items!!!

Just listed a few birds over on Ebay which close this coming weekend.

Always wanted to create an ostrich but it kept getting pushed to the back burner for quite a while. Well, I finally got him drawn up, sewn and finished and really like how he turned out. He's quite the tall one, LOL, and is very "commanding" sitting on my hutch in the living room. LOL

Instead of adding tons of feathers and wings and detail, I decided to just keep him very simple and prim. I'm glad I went that way as he's one prim and grungy ostrich. :)

I don't think there are many Primitive Blue Footed Booby Dolls out there, LOL.

I always thought these guys are so unique with there normal shaded feathers and then their baby blue feet. :) You can't help but love their given name. LOL My youngest boys just laugh every time they say it. :)

After watching a nature show with my son, Chase, he suggested that I should create a Puffin doll as they are so unique and very similar in "style" to the Toucan which I have loved creating in the past. Their beaks are alot of fun to create and paint. LOTS of paint went into this guy. Seems like a Puffin lover has already set sights on adopting him over on Ebay so he'll be on to his new home soon!

I'm really happy to be starting some Halloween dolls/critters now, although I'm in NO HURRY for summer to end and for Fall to arrive. :) "Jack" is a pumpkinhead doll that originated at OCSC last Fall. Each one has been slightly different and seems to have it's own personality. :) Very prim and very much a Halloween staple for any prim home!

No Halloween home would be complete without a Piranha! :) This guy was a blast to create and actually came out looking alot scarier than I thought it would. LOL Thank goodness it's teeth are just frayed burlap and not the real thing!!! For it's tag, I thought to switch up the common statement of "its bark is worse than its bite" by putting "my bite is worse than my bark". These guys definately don't have the size and outward appearance of being nasty little ones, but then........you can't ignore their mouths and what they can do with them.......LOL A couple of years ago, I created a scary deep sea fish for the Halloween season, so I figured I'd tap the waters of the Amazon for this season's scary fish creation. :)

All of these critters are now up for adoption over on Ebay........

Bird of Paradise

Just listed this Bird of Paradise doll/make do over on Ebay.

I was inspired by seeing the male bird of paradise on tv one night and thinking how flamboyant they are! LOL When doing some research for this fellow, I learned that the male bird of paradise comes in all colors and many different extravagant plumage. They're truly amazing to learn about and beautiful to look at.

Got lots of new critters that I just listed over on Ebay.....found this awesome iron, rusty bathtub and thought that's perfect for one of my slugs. :) So here he is....Rub a dub dub, one slug in the tub!! :)

Couldn't resist making one of my snakes and giving him a patriotic twist.

And back from hiatus is Seaho' Sally and Seahorse Sam! I so enjoyed making these two when they first premired a couple of years ago and it was just as fun creating them again!!

Raccoon Rob was a blast to make and always makes me laugh. He also was first designed a couple of years ago along with Seaho' Sally and Seahorse Sam.

I love creating Americana and patriotic critters and am excited to get going on my Memorial Day and summer/4th of July listings!!!! It also means warmer weather cannot be too far behind!! :-)

Ok...after a couple of months on break I've jumped back into the saddle and listed my first primitive creation over on Ebay........a primitive Dammit Doll. I figured that with our economy and politics and everything so whacky and stressful for so many right now, that we could all use our own grungy dammit doll in our lives. LOL
It had been so long since listing on ebay that I had to really take my time getting the doll listed as they seemed to have changed things up a bit. Go figure. :)
Anyways, he/she's up and running and I've got several more prim critters in the works including some Dodo Birds so make sure to check Ebay thoughout this week for their debuts.
My old website has been down and under construction so please be patient for a couple more weeks until I can get my new and improved site live.

Well, finally got SOMETHING done and listed on Ebay. LOL It's been quite a time here in NH between L O N G pre Christmas power outages (thanks to the ice storm) and then a bad cold/flu bug that hit my family pretty hard. I'm STILL getting over that one. But, hopefully we are all on the mend and will avoid any more ice storms this year. :) (although we just got about 8" of additional snow last night) Anyways, this critter above is now listed over on Ebay......gotta run and finish makin' some yummy chicken and dumplings. :)

Just spent a few days setting up a new website....whew, what a task, especially with Ty roaming around the house getting into EVERYTHING! LOL
I'll still have my current site www.oldecrowseedco.com up and running until the end of Jan 09. The new site is up and running (with a couple of minor glitches I must admit LOL) currently. Feel free to go take a look. http://oldecrowseedco.webs.com/
I'll be adding any new critters over to the new site from now on as well as continuing to add once per month over at my shoppe on Lemon Poppy Seeds. A Prim Platy has arrived! :O)

Well, I finally got this guy sewn and listed on Ebay yesterday! I only drew his design out over 6 mos ago!! LOL Being that it gets dark soooooo early here in New England (pitch dark here in NH by 4:30) I've been having the hardest time getting good indoor photos. I'd much rather take the picts outside with the natural light. But, between the early darkness and now, the bitter cold temps.....I'll just stay in where it's warm. :O)
Had our first real flurries last week while we were finished up blowing the last of the leaves off of our yard. Boy, the wind has just been crazy here during the past few days. Really makes for some biting cold days.
I also have a Pelican Santa, a Santa Clam (of course :O) ) and a Santa Frog on ebay. They all close during this weekend, so I've got lots of work to do creating new designs and getting them listed hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Well, we're definately in the middle of a typical New England November here in NH. Gloomy, and lots of rain. All the beautiful leaves are gone........actually they are all laying on my yard at the moment. LOL November seems to be a bit of a warm up to the long cold winters here in NH. Sort of a preshow without the snow. LOL
I have been soooooo busy with Dylan's cross country and Cody's band season that I haven't done much sewing and listing on both my site and ebay. I've got TONS of new ideas and have been sketching lots of new critters and ideas........just have to find the second to actually escape from the kiddos (and hubby :) ) and get to creating!
My parents came up to visit with us from Florida and stayed the entire month of Oct. We had a BLAST! I love it when they're here as we are so far away from family and it's not often that we can get down to Fl. now that the boys are older and have full schedules. I took them to alot of New Englands awesome sites to see.......Kennebunkport (my dad's favorite), Lake Winni and the Christmas Loft which is AWESOME, Deerfield, Mass and the Yankee Candle Main store (another huge and awesome store!), Essex, Mass (several times :) ), Glouchester, Mass, Marblehead, and of course...the best place to go in Oct before Halloween....Salem Mass. :) Awesome town to visit during Oct. when they are in full Halloween "mode". LOL They are coming back up for Christmas, yeay!, so maybe I can "convince" my dad to go down to Boston for the day. he he he

I just listed this black cat over on Ebay. As are all my black cats I create, I get my inpiration for them from my own black kitty, Binx. Binx seems to know when Halloween is coming as he definately gets more of an "attitude" around his "favorite holiday". LOL

I also have a silly, strange lookin' bat on Ebay as well. It takes a bit of time to get my critters sewn and listed lately as Ty is really into EVERYTHING, all the time. LOL Keeps me on my toes to say the LEAST! :)

New Halloween Critters!

Finally finished some new critters for Halloween and listed them over on Ebay yesterday. What a feat it is with Ty "helping" every chance he gets! LOL The older boys are off to school this morning, so it's me and Ty left here to get some primming done!! Ty always has his own "agenda" which always leads to an interesting......and exhausting day! :) Looks like wonderful DRY weather today for NH. Summer's end at OCSC

Wow! Summer has FLOWN by!! :( We got in a last minute vacation down to my ole' summer stompin' grounds, Garden City Bch, SC. What a wonderful time we had! The photo above is what we saw each and every morning right off of our back porch. Just gorgeous. It was just enough to give me lots of new critter ideas to create for this fall. :) Hopefully it was enough to get me through another upcoming long New England winter. LOL

I'm finally getting a few things sewn and listed on Ebay. Hopefully will get some more critters created and listed on my website as well as Lemon Poppy Seeds. My boys (three of them at least) went back to school last week. My oldest just started high school. :-O Where did the time go with him????? So far, knock on wood, he loves his new school and is thoroughly enjoying his new high school "freedoms". LOL I, on the other hand, have to get used to the whole thing. hehehe :)

Well, today has been a glorious day here in New Hampshire as Spring is here in full swing and we're starting to see a little green peekin' out from our front and back yards. :) I've taken a break from crafting ~ although I've got TONS of ideas I want to start on ~ to spend the weekend enjoying working in my yard with my boys and hubby. :) Most of my inspiration within my items/creations comes directly from my interactions/experiences with the outdoors and nature. This past weekend was no exception as even though I'm recooperating from the flu, I had the chance to sit outside and get lots of interesting ideas for my critters. I've got at least one of my four boys very sick with the flu right now, but as soon as he's recovered, I feel very inspired to start creating!!!
